It is my honor to serve as chaplain to the Maine Warden Service, the enforcement branch of Maine’s Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. The chaplain program was created, and is maintained, by game wardens driven by a deep concern for the citizens they serve, especially when it comes to offering support during search and rescue operations and other outdoor calamities.
In other words, though I am their chaplain, this ministry isn’t mine. It is, rather, an expression of the compassion and care of the law enforcement officers I work with.
If you would like to know more about the Maine Warden Service, go to www.mainegamewarden.com.
This site will soon have a page that explains more about the Warden Service chaplaincy, and law enforcement officers seeking information about creating such a position within their own agencies will be able to learn from our experience.
Prayer for Law Enforcement Officers:
May you be granted capable and amusing comrades,
Observant witnesses and compliant arrestees.
May God give you respite from what you must know of human evil
And refuge from what you must see of human pain.
May God defend the goodness in your heart,
May God defend the sweetness in your soul.
Amen.
